Your Rhode Island questions, answered.
Do you deliver anywhere in Rhode Island?
Everywhere except Block Island, which we can’t currently serve. Check your ZIP at the top of this page.
Do I need a permit?
Usually. The Rhode Island State Building Code applies in every city and town, and the local building official issues permits. Check zoning setbacks at the same time.
My property is near the shore. What else applies?
Check with the Coastal Resources Management Council. It regulates building near the shoreline, coastal ponds and coastal wetlands, in addition to town rules. Much of the coast is also in mapped flood zones, and design wind speeds are higher. Ask before you choose the building location.
What about wetlands inland?
Freshwater wetlands and the land around them are regulated by the state. If there is a wetland, pond or stream near the building spot, ask your town or the state Department of Environmental Management (the Coastal Resources Management Council near the coast) before site work.
My yard has ledge and rocks. Can you still anchor the building?
Ledge and buried rock can stop standard ground anchors. A concrete pad or a different anchor type may be needed.
How do delivery and installation work?
We review your building, location and site details before confirming timing. You prepare a level site and arrange required local approvals. Narrow streets, tight backyard access, stone walls, gates and low wires can make delivery harder. A quote request does not reserve an installation date.
Do I need to call 811 before installation?
Yes. Contact Dig Safe at least 72 hours before work starts, not counting weekends and holidays. Tell them where the building will sit and that ground anchors will be installed.
Lines you own, such as power to a garage, are not marked through 811.
