Your Maryland questions, answered.

Do you deliver anywhere in Maryland?

Yes. Our coverage includes the whole state.

Do I need a permit?

Usually. Maryland counties and some cities issue permits under the state’s building standards, and each can set its own size limit for small sheds. Carports and garages generally need a permit. Ask your county permit office before you prepare the site.

My property is near the Chesapeake Bay or a tidal creek. What else applies?

Check the Critical Area. Land within 1,000 feet of tidal water or tidal wetlands is in the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area, where counties limit new buildings, impervious surface and clearing. There is also a buffer closest to the water where new buildings are generally not allowed. Ask your county planning office before choosing the building location.

Where can I check flood risk?

Maryland’s flood risk application shows flood zones by address. Look up your property, then ask the county floodplain office about the building location.

What snow load should I plan for?

Ask your county. Garrett and Allegany counties in western Maryland get far more snow than the rest of the state.

How do delivery and installation work?

We review your building, location and site details before confirming timing. You prepare a level site and arrange required local approvals. Narrow streets, tight backyard access, fences, gates and low wires can make delivery harder. A quote request does not reserve an installation date.

Do I need to call 811 before installation?

Yes. Contact Miss Utility at least three business days, and no more than 12 business days, before work starts. Tell them where the building will sit and that ground anchors will be installed.

Lines you own, such as power to a garage, are not marked through 811.

Does my HOA need to approve it?

If you have one, get written approval first. Many Maryland HOAs limit metal buildings, colors and placement.
