Your Kentucky questions, answered.
Do you deliver anywhere in Kentucky?
Yes. Our coverage includes the whole state.
Do I need a permit?
Check with your city or county. Kentucky has a statewide residential code, but for homes and their accessory buildings, permits and inspections are required only where local ordinances call for them. Zoning setbacks can apply either way.
Is a farm building treated differently?
It can be. Kentucky’s building code does not apply to a farm building used to run the farm if it is outside city limits, is not used for retail sales and is not a regular workplace for 10 or more people. A building used as a home garage does not become a farm building because it sits on farmland. Ask your county how it applies the exemption.
What if there are sinkholes or rock on my property?
Much of central and south-central Kentucky sits on limestone with sinkholes and shallow rock. Rock can stop standard ground anchors, and a sinkhole or wet low spot is a poor place for a building or slab. We review the installation surface before confirming the anchoring.
How do delivery and installation work?
We review your building, location and site details before confirming timing. You prepare a level site and arrange required local approvals. In eastern Kentucky especially, narrow roads, hollows, steep drives, creek crossings and tight turns can make delivery harder. A quote request does not reserve an installation date.
Do I need to call 811 before installation?
Yes. Contact Kentucky 811 at least two working days before work starts. Tell them where the building will sit and that ground anchors will be installed. Marks are good for 21 days.
Lines you own, such as power to a barn, are not marked through 811.
Does western Kentucky need an earthquake review?
Ask your building office. The far western part of the state is near the New Madrid seismic zone and has higher earthquake design requirements.
Is a carport or metal building safe to shelter in during a tornado?
No. A carport or steel storage building is not a storm shelter. Do not stay in it during a tornado warning.
