Your Kansas questions, answered.

Do you deliver anywhere in Kansas?

Yes. Our coverage includes the whole state.

Do I need a permit?

It depends on the city or county. Kansas has no statewide residential building code, so each city and county decides. Metro counties such as Johnson County run permit offices for unincorporated areas, while some rural counties have no building permits. Zoning, floodplain and septic rules can still apply, so call the county before preparing the site.

How much wind should my building handle?

Where there is a building office, ask for the design wind speed at your address. Also tell us how open the site is: open fields and hilltops see stronger wind than sheltered lots.

Is a carport or metal building safe to shelter in during a tornado?

No. A carport or steel storage building is not a storm shelter. Shelter in your home, a basement or a safe room.

Does the ground freeze deep enough to matter?

For a slab or footings, yes. Your county or city sets the frost depth for foundations. Anchors are best installed when the ground is not frozen. If you plan winter installation, tell us so we can talk through timing.

How do delivery and installation work?

We review your building, location and site details before confirming timing. You prepare a level site and arrange required local approvals. Gravel or dirt roads, gates, field entrances and how far the spot is from the road can make delivery harder. A quote request does not reserve an installation date.

Do I need to call 811 before installation?

Yes. Contact Kansas 811 at least two full working days before work starts, not counting the day you call. Tell them where the building will sit and that ground anchors will be installed. Marks are good for 20 calendar days.

Lines you own, such as power to an outbuilding, are not marked through 811.

Where can I check flood risk?

Kansas has a statewide floodplain viewer. Look up your address, then ask the county floodplain administrator about the building location.
